NZ First line-up from nutjob to normal says Jackson

Labour’s Māori campaign chair Willie Jackson says New Zealand First and ACT have played the race card – and Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has been right to call them out.
He says New Zealand First leader Winston Peters’ quest to get over the 5 percent threshold to had driven him to desperate measures.
“What’s the Winston strategy? ‘I’ll take every vote I can. I’ll take some of the nutjobs and we’ll put one or two on the list. We’ll take some of the racists, we’ll put one or two of the Hobson’s choice people on the list.’ His strategy is about ‘I need 5 percent, I can’t just get it from your normal run of the mill voter so I need to embrace some of the maniacs, and in between I’ll put some reasonably good people on,'” Mr Jackson says.
He says New Zealand First will bring back some proven performers in Shane Jones, Jenny Marcroft and Mark Patterson.
