Download AudioNational’s Te Tai Hauāuru candidate is urging Māori to vote strategically to ensure Māori representation in a National-led Government.
Harete Hipango says National has a history of leading initiatives for Māori, including revitalization of the language, kura kaupapa, Māori broadcasting, Whānau Oraand the settlement of treaty claims.
She says a change of Government is now highly likely.
“Cast your vote to ensure you have Māori representation in a National Government so I invite that there be the utilisation strategically and smartly of those two ticks to ensure Māori representation under a National Government,” Ms Hipango says.
She says National will work towards running candidates in all seven Māori seats at the next election, up from two this time.
