NZ First use-by date near says Ngarewa-Packer
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer, says Winston Peters is showing desperation with his attacks on Māori.
Mr Peters told a meeting on Sunday that Māori are not indigenous, and New Zealand First policy is to withdraw this country from the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples which National signed up to in 2010.
Ms Ngarewa-Packer says at 78, he’s probably an accurate representation of his few core supporters.
“Can you imagine – I mean what’s New Zealand First going to look like in 6 years, in 9 years? Seriously, there’s no tenure, there’s no long term movement. So I sort of look at them and kia kaha and wish them well. But they’re not relevant – they’re not going to be around for long,” she says.
Ms Ngarewa-Packer Te Pāti Māori is campaigning for removing taxes on the poorest, increasing taxes for the richest, and continuing the fight for Māori equity and autonomy.
