Business gets on reo bus
Te Taura Whiri I te Reo Māori is inviting businesses to join a nationwide business network for companies that actively support te reo Māori.
Commission chief executive, Ngahiwi Apanui says Te Hononga Pakihi Reo Māori will be an online house of learning where ideas and best practice can be shared.
He says many businesses, including some based overseas, are looking for ways to make their brand New Zealand, or Aotearoa.
“There’s this old myth that if you’re in business you don’t care about culture but any business worth its salt understands that it needs to understand its audience and its market and these fellas have picked up that te reo Maori is important to New Zealanders,” he says.
Founding members of Te Hononga Pakihi Reo Māori include Araraurangi-Air New Zealand, media firm Stuff-Te Puna, McDonalds NZ, Rangiata-Sky TV, Foodstuffs, Countdown, GO Media, Domino’s Pizza, Wellington Regional Stadium Trust and Bunnings.
