CTU attack ads get under National skin
Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins says National is being thin skinned about attack ads from the Council of Trade Unions.
The wrapround ad in yesterday’s New Zealand Herald called National leader Christopher Luxon out of touch and highlighted his plans to scrap fair pay agreements, reintroduce prescription fees and and give billions of dollars in tax cuts to landlords.
National’s campaign chair, Chris Bishop, says it’s nasty and negative.
Mr Hipkins says it’s a case of the shoe being on the other foot.
“The National Party and their surrogates including the Taxpayers Union, Groundswell, Hobson’s Pledge and so on, have been running attack ads against me and against the Labour Government since the day I took on the job. I haven’t called a press conference or issued a media statement every time they have done that. If Christopher Luxon and the National Party is going to do that each time someone critiques or criticizes what they’re doing, they probably need to rethink whether they’re cut out to be in government,” he says.
Mr Hipkins says there’s a lot of truth in the CTU ads.
