Election could be demolition day

The chair of Labour’s Māori seat campaign, Willie Jackson, says ACT’s promise to get rid of Te Puni Kokiri and other government agencies catering to distinct groups shows everything is on the line this election.
He says ACT leader David Seymour also wants to rewrite Treaty of Waitangi principles.
“Treaty principles are really important to us. They drive us in terms of treaty settlements. Our whole way of working as Maori will be dismantled if these guys get in. We have a Maori housing strategy in place. Never had it before. We’ve got iwi working on huge projects, These guys are doing the business for our people. All that gets dismantled if this other lot get in,” he says.
Mr Jackson says current polling shows the election is evenly balanced between left and right blocs, with Winston Peters in the middle if New Zealand Fist passes the 5 percent threshold.
