Rangatahi voice central to Te Tai Tonga campaign

Māori Party Te Tai Tonga candidate Tākuta Ferris says he will target younger voters to turn out for October’s election.
It’s the Massey University Maori advisor and kapa haka leader’s second run for the seat, after polling 6800 votes behind Rino Tirikatene in 2020.
He says rangatahi voices are vital to Aotearoa’s progress, but mainstream parties pander to the older crowd.
“To generations and the ones still coming, they need to see there’s a platform upon which the way that they think, the way that they view, the history that they know gets a voice and it has a place to be told,” he says.
Mr Ferris says he will be relentless in holding the Pākeha system accountable.
