Wāhine Māori appointed to bench
Two more wāhine Māori are joining the district court bench.
Ngaroma Tahana (Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Mākino, Tapuika), a partner at Kahui Legal’s Rotorua office, will be sworn in on April 15 and take up her appointment at the Manukau District Court.
She’s the sister of Justice Kiri Tahana, who was appointed to the high court last year.
Tania Williams Blyth (Ngāti Pukenga, Te Arawa) will be sworn in on June 10 and take up her appointment at the Whangārei District Court.
The Hamilton-based barrister has been a district inspector for mental health since 2008 and a member of the Parole Board since 2014.
She’s the sister of Supreme Court Justice Sir Joe Williams.
