Te Matatini confirms Eden Park start

Te Matatini says the national kapa haka competition will go ahead next week, despite potential disruption from Cyclone Gabrielle.
Chief executive Carl Ross says it’s been a tough four years since the last competition, and people are keen to get back on stage to stand up for their rohe.
The organisation is giving as much suport as it can to help iwi with travel costs, and it’s consulting with experts about the condition of the Eden Park venue.
“We’ve got a good weather forecast coming up todry the fields. The only way Matatini willnot go ahead at Eden Park is if they close Eden Park and if they close Eden Park we will move into plan B,” Mr Ross says.
