“Feisty” Parata right for Covid inquiry says Waititi

Māori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi says former National cabinet minister Hekia Parata is the right person for the Royal Commission of Inquiry into COVID 19.
Ms Parata joins epidemiologist Tony Blakely and former Treasury secretary John Whitehead on the panel which will review the health and the economic response to the pandemic.
The career bureaucrat’s time as education minister included fronting the controversial charter schools policy and investigating Te Kohanga Reo National Trust.
“Hekia is a strong fiesty Ngāti Porou woman. We saw when she was the Minister of Education she had no fear. she went where no angel would go. I think Hekia is the right person to choose to go into this particular position,” Mr Waititi says.
