Davis probes tamariki information blocks
The Minister for Children says some of the recommendations in the Malachi Subecz report should already be happening.
An independent review by Dame Karen Poutasi found six government agencies had contact with the five-year-old or his whanau before he was murdered by an unrelated caregiver, but information wasn’t shared between them and red flags of abuse were missed.
Minister Kelvin Davis says that’s not good enough.
“Information sharing is already legislated for. It’s like how do we make it happen. It’s not acceptable that agencies should have been sharing information but didn’t, so we’ve got to look at what went wrong and what we can do to fix it,” he says.
