Home ownership has generational effect
A Māori property valuer in says Māori home ownership is one of the best ways to change futures.
Inez White-Faitala has been awarded an Atlantic Social Equity Fellowship to complete her masters degree at Melbourne University.
She plans to use that knowledge to help even more whanau transform from renters to homeowners.
“Once you know what that feels like, its very hard to go back the other way, but still, embedding that into the psyche and the blood and the bodies of our mokopuna, so they refuse to accept anyting less, is a process – and we’ve got to start now,” she says.
Ms White-Faitala says home ownership has a great future multiplier effect – because every child in that household expects to also own their own home one day.
