The organiser of the Rotorua Indigenous Film Festival says the doors are open for aspiring filmmakers.
The four-day festival opens on September 29 with Tuhoe Raids-inspired cop drama Muru and includes a range of short films and documentaries, as well as panel discussions and opportunities to network.
Mike Jonathan says there’s also a five-minute pitch competition for people keen to get their ideas onto the screen.
“It could be somebody who just walks off the street and has this really good idea, they could win it. it could be a producer with 20 or 30 years experience. That’s how random it is,” he says.Mr Jonathan says industry card holders can win up to $20,000 towards their project.
Further details and ticketing are available on the The Rotorua Indigenous film festival website.
