1000 houses in Māori housing plan

The implementation plan for the MAIHI Ka Ora National Māori Housing Strategy released today calls for 1000 new builds.
Associate Housing Minister of Housing Peeni Henare told the annual MAIHI Whare Wānanga in Te Tai Tokerau the plan outlines how Māori and the crown can work together to overcome some of the barriers Māori face when using their land and resources for housing.
It will also support the infrastructure for 2,700 other house builds and repair 700 whānau-owned homes
He’s promising improvements to the Kainga Whenua loan scheme, which so far has had limited success in helping Māori into their own homes.
