Papakainga to reinvigorate Reporoa marae

Work has started on a new papakainga next to Waimahana Marae in Reporoa.
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson says the seven rental homes being built by the Waimahana Lands Trust will bring Ngāti Tahu – Ngāti Whaoa whānau back to their tūrangawaewae and reinvigorate the marae.
It’s one of three projects planned between Reporoa and Taupo funded with a $12.35 million contribution from the Whai Kāinga Whai Oranga scheme.
