War stories and whanau stories at show and tell hui

The 28th Māori Battalion Association is looking for an Auckland venue to hold another Hora Ka Taki show and tell hui.
Auckland branch chair Brian Howe says the hui are a way to capture stories and draw out some of the photographs and memorabilia that will help illustrate a book being written about the A Company.
About six hui have been held so far in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Taitokerau where the company was drawn from, at which people have shared both the good and the bad about their fathers, grandfathers and uncles.
"What we really need to be able to do is capture as many of those whānau stories as we can, because although this will talk about the 28th Māori Battalion A Company and how they travelled overseas, what they did over there, it's a lot about what did they do before they went over there, why did they go over there and what did they do when they came back," Mr Howe says.
The next Hora Ka Taki hui is at the Opononi RSA in Hokianga on August 21.
