Anti-Maori YouTube rant under investigation
Police deputy commissioner Wally Haumaha says there is still an active investigation into the posting of a video on YouTube containing threats to Māori MPs and marae.
The Māori Party has laid a complaint with the Police Complaints Authority alleging police failed to adequately respond to what it is calling a hate crime, while at the same time rushing to charge two Māori for alleged threats against National Party police spokesperson Simeon Brown.
Mr Haumaha says police are taking the complaints seriously.
"I've provided reassurance to the Māori Party that this matter is being taken seriously and there are good people that are looking into this," he says.
