Matariki mysteries shares in photographs

A Kai Tahu astro-photographer whose pictures of Aotearoa’s night skies are drawing a global audience will host Matariki shows at Auckland’s Stardome Observatory and Planetarium.
During lockdown space agency NASA shared one of Josh Kirkley’s images with its 59 million Instagram followers.
He says the interactive Stardome show, Ngā Whetū o Matariki, is a chance to share his passion for space.
He sees growing interest among rangatahi in the maramataka and how their tūpuna read and understood the night sky.
He will share hosting hosting duties with Olive Karena-Lockyer from Te Aupouri and Ngāti Raukawa.
Ngā Whetū o Matariki kicks off on Thursday with two sessions each Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
