Child health checks resume

The Director-General of Health is urging people to resume routine healthcare and child health checks.
Dr Ashley Bloomfield says some people are assuming notifications are being sent out in error, but in fact, the system of child immunisations, cervical smears, outpatient clinics and so on is being resumed under COVID-19 Alert Level 3.
He says people should also not delay in seeking care for acute conditions or maintenance of chronic conditions, and many consultations can be done virtually.
The Section 70 healthcare notice has been amended to allow people to travel to get care for their pets, but he reminded hunters that duck shooting is not permitted.
Today there were three new confirmed cases of COVID-19, one tied to an existing infection and the other two under investigation.
The total number of confirmed and probable cases is now 1476, and yesterday there were 5867 tests carried out.
