Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival returns

Performances on both land and sea will feature in a revived Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival.
Steve Armitage from Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development says the council controlled agency is again teaming up with the 19 iwi and hapū of Tāmaki Makaurau to celebrate the region's rich Maori heritage and its rich waka history.
The one-day festival will take place on Friday, January 31 from 6pm – 11pm on Captain Cook Wharf along Auckland's waterfront.
As well as display of waka, there will be music, dance, kapa haka performances and a marketplace for kai and art.
