Tuaine returns to regional role
Nancy Tuaine has been welcomed as the new regional manager for Te Puni Kōkiri at a ceremony at Whangaehu Marae near Whanganui.
Ms Tuaine, from Ngāti Rangi and Te Atihaunui-a-Pāpārangi, has most recently been working as chief advisor to TPK chief executive Michelle Hippolite.
She started her career in Whanganui in the early 1990s as a cadet at the Department of Māori Affairs, working closely with Tariana Turia and helping her set up Te Oranganui Iwi Health Authority.
She has also run the Whanganui River Māori Trust Board, forming relationships with iwi across Te Tai Hauauru in relation to freshwater and fisheries.
TPK deputy chief executive of regional partnerships Di Grennell says her lengthy experience working in Māori health, whānau ora, water and fisheries issues as well as her unwavering commitment to whānau in the regions will be invaluable.
