Mortgage readiness courses offered
Whānau considering taking the leap into home ownership will be able to learn how with a new workshop programme.
Māori Development Minister Nanaia Mahuta says Sorted Kainga Ora was developed by Te Puni Kōkiri and the Commission for Financial Capability to work alongside projects supported by the ministry’s Māori Housing Network.
She says it will give whānau the tools to set goals and put a plan into action to achieve them.
Ms Mahuta told the National Māori Housing Conference 2018 in the Waikato yesterday the Government is taking a new approach to Māori housing that supports whānau-led community development outcomes.
It set aside $15 million in this year’s Budget for a range of Māori housing programmes including papakainga housing developments, repair programmes and training.
