Whānau ora cash awaiting proof
As delegates head home from the North Island Whānau Ora commissioning agency Te Pou Matakana’s biennial conference, there are words of assurance from Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
Future funding was an underlying concern at the hui, despite a generally upbeat feeling about the outcomes from the model of whānau-driven integrated service delivery.
Ms Ardern says despite there being no increase in this year’s budget, funding levels were maintained pending the outcome of a review of the policy.
"I don’t want people to feel like in any we we have abandoned Whānau Ora. Quite the contrary. I believe the principles are really strong. When we talk about wanting to invest early, prevention, making sure we don't don't duplicate, Whanau Ora grabs all those principles and to my understanding has done it well, but we want to demonstrate that," she
