Tight deadline for charter school feedback

An organisation supporting charter schools is crying foul at the time it has been given to respond to an amendment to the Education Amendment Bill to ensure no new such schools are opened.

E Tipu e Rea chief executive Graeme Osborne says partnership schools were given just three days to respond to the supplementary order paper.

They want until August 17, which is still within the Education and Workforce Select Committee’s September 3 deadline to report back.

Mr Osborne says E Tipu e Rea wants the chance to consult with Ministry of Education officials and to be given access to the policy documents supporting the change before it makes its submission.
