Rapid age fall off in Maori sports participation
Young Māori spend the most time participating in sport of any group, but the participation rate of Māori adults falls off sharply.
That's one of the findings of the latest Sport NZ participation survey.
Chief executive Peter Miskimmin says 95 percent of young people and 73 percent of adults are taking part in sport and active recreation in any given week.
But the participation rate for Māori adults is just 71 percent.
People living in high deprivation areas have below average levels of participation, and also spend less time participating.
