Voice of Raukawa FM Homai Uerata silenced
A voice of wisdom and compassion who brought te reo tāwhito to the airwaves of south Waikato has been silenced.
Homai Dave Uerata died at Tokoroa Hospital yesterday aged 68.
Mr Uerata was a long serving announcer on Tokoroa’s Raukawa FM, sharing his knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in his te reo show Te Ia Ō Te Kauta.
He was also a senior member of the Kīngitanga paepae, and kaumatua of Aotearoa National Māori Bowls.
Homai Uerata will be taken about mid day from Papa ō Te Aroha Marae in Tokoroa to Rākaunui Marae in Kāwhia, where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am, followed by burial at Mokoroa Urupā
