Tipene sticks with Maranga Mai blueprint

The co-chair of Te Kotahitanga o Nga Hapu o Ngapuhi hopes ministers picked up the signals from the people at Waitangi Day commemorations that Ngapuhi is ready to settle.
Treaty Negotiations Minister Andrew Little met on Sunday with Te Kotahitanga and the mandated negotiating body Tuhoronuku to follow the meetings he held soon after the election.
Peter Tipene hopes he will embrace the Maranga Mai report, which proposed Tuhoronuku shoukld be replaced by a hapu-driven body.
"There is a real ground swell that people really want to move on, because there are people in Ngapuhi who don't want to settle at all. People are wanting to get on with it and settle, through Maranga Mai," he says.
Minister Little indicated he would make some proposals in a few weeks, once he has returned from an overseas trip.
