Kingi experience boosts Waihirere kapa.
Kapa haka are getting ready to hit the road for Te Matatini, and Gisborne's Waihirere are ready with one of their performers set to take the stage again yet again.
Louise Kingi, has been to every national Maori performing arts competiton since 1972.
Waihirere member Willie Te Aho says it's a privilege to share the stage with her.
"She absolutely loves performing. I love being on stage with her. Just a smile or an interjection, which she is well known for, can really lift a person, can really lift a team. She is 64, she's gold, and we are so privileged in Waihirere to stand by her," Mr Te Aho says.
Te Matatini starts with a welcome at the Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park on February 22.
