E Tu Whanau signing up to end violence

E Tu Whanau is inviting people to sign up to make an individual stand against all forms of violence.
It has added a charter of commitment to its website setting out the expectations for living a violence-free life.
E Tu Whanau ambassador Brent Mio says it’s a way to help people feel they are part of a larger collective action, and to give them the tools to express values like aroha, whanungatanga, whakapapa, mana manaaki, korero awhi, and tikanga.
It’s about more than physical violence.
"There’s the patu wairua, the patu hinengaro, there's the spiritual violence, the emotional violence that people go through as well, those are all forms of violence that we are saying with this charter, enough is enough," Mr Mio says.
E Tu Whanau is an initiative developed by the Maori reference group of the Taskforce for Action on Violence within Families.
