Whanau ministry better direction

Maori Party co-leader Marama Fox wants to see a ministry for whanau rather than the proposed Ministry for Vulnerable Children.
The new ministry is set to replace the Child, Youth and Family Service of the Ministry for Social Development by the end of March next year.
A chief executive has been shoulder tapped by the State Services Commission.
Ms Fox says she’s not convinced the Government is on the right track, as children don’t become vulnerable on their own.
"Absolutely we have to focus on children, put children at the heart. Children do not become vulnerable on their own they do not become impoverished on their own. They are part of a greater " whole" and if we don't fix the whole of the whanau then the children will continue to suffer. We need to strengthen families in Aotearoa," says Marama Fox.
