Shaky promises underlie economic summit

Northland MP Winston Peters says participants at today’s He Kai Kei Aku Ringa regional economic hui in Kerikeri shouldn’t bank on any promises made by ministers and officials.
The hui is discussing ways to better use Maori land, forestry and other assets.
Mr Peters says all Northland gets from the Government is policies that don’t work and promises that aren’t delivered on, like the by-election pledges of roads, bridges, fast broadband and cellphone towers.
"Here we are, May of 2016, you haven't even built one metre of the super highway between Puhoi and not even Warkworth but on to Wellsford which is what you promised. In the case of the bridges, you haven't started any, and you only intend to build four, not the 10 you promised, so can we have just some of your promises kept," he says.
