The Prime Minister's coming to his marae and he's not happy.
Waitangi kaumatua Kingi Taurua says the invitation extended to John Key by trustees of Te Tii Marae after a hui yesterday was counter to the wishes of the majority of Ngapuhi.
Mr Taurua's call to refuse a welcome to the PM as a protest against the Trans Pacific Partnership won the support of two thirds of those at the hui.
He says the trustees shouldn't make political decisions.
"Their job is to look after the marae and make sure the people are fed. They should not be playing any political games but there are some of those trustees, there are only seven trustees, they were in the meeting when the overwhelming result came through, next minute one or two spoke to the media and said the trustees are welcoming the prime minister on to the marae. They have no right to do that," Mr Taurua says.
John Key says he'll be there on Friday, unless protesters managed to bar the gate.
