Landcare welcome new General Manager Maori Development
Landcare research the organisation which oversees land use in Aotearoa yesterday welcomed Keith Ikin to take up a new role which will see greater co-operation with Maori at a powhiri in Hamilton.
Chief executive Dr Richard Gordon says the 20 year old research institute has a long history of working with iwi which will intensify even further with Keith Ikin's appointment as General Manager Maori Development.
He says Landcare bases itself on manaaki whenua and manaaki tangata so having someone with Keith Ikin's experience as a farmer and teacher is very important.
Dr Gordon says the appointment is important as the emphasis shifts from how land is presently managed to looking at ways it can be used into the future.
