He’s been through the haka test, now for the waka.
Prince Harry carried off his first haka today, joining in with soldiers at Linton Military Camp doing the army haka Tu Taua a Tumatauenga after a 15-minute rehearsal.
He also helped lift the hangi containing his lunch, and rode one of the army’s light army vehicles.
Tomorrow he will be welcomed to Putiki Marae by Whanganui River tribes.
Marae committee chair Hone Tamehana says after the powhiri the prince will be taken to the Putiki slipway to board a waka and join the other 14 crew paddling over to the town centre.
"He's a soldier and I'm sure he will get out there and enjoy paddling on the river and in terms of what the awa means to us as the people of Whanganui," he says.
