Security was tight as John Key arrived at the lower marae with kaihoe lining the path to the meeting house and plain clothes police in a line bertween them and a small crowd. The prime minister was flanked by Ngapuihi kuia Titewhai Harawira and Naida Glavish. Along with a large group of MPs and officials he was quickly hustled into the house for added security. As he was waiting at the gate there was a call on the PA system from activist Mike Smith for the prime minister to hurry up because the Statoil hikoi would arrive at the marae at noon.
