Health Board awarded for tamariki initiatives
MidCentral DHB has given the supreme award for integrated services in its annual health awards to its Child Health Tamariki Ora District Group.
The group, which includes the public health organisation, iwi providers, government and non-government agencies, drives initiatives such as a programme under which 98 percent of newborns are now enrolled with a GP.
It championed the appointment of a Pepi Haumaru/Keeping Babies Safe Coordinator, to promote safe practices for taking care of babies, and it has also tackled issues such as bed wetting, autism, eczema, asthma and gastroenteritis.
Whanau Tri-Sport Manawatu was given an award for the impact it has made on the health of many people, particularly Maori.
