Education measures are good for Maori and mainstream.
Education minister Hekia Parata says yesterday's budget will not only be good for business but it has a huge heart particularly in the field of education.
She says Maori will certainly benefit from an $858 million increase in vote education taking education expenditure to over $10 billion the highest it has ever been.
" Thats broken down by the flagship initiative that the prime minister announced in January. $359m for four new career roles. Those apply to kura kaupapa, kura a iwi as much as they do to the mainstream " says the Education Minister
Hekia Parata says it also includes an extra $155 million on early childhood over four years will also benefit many Maori families as will $85 million for schools operational budget.
