Website for Waikato history

The Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development has created a website to make it easier for school students to find tribal knowledge.
Academic director Sarah Jane Tiakiwai says Tooku Awa Koiora was created in partnership with the Science Learning Hub.
It contains Waikato-Tainui traditions, histories and practices pertaining to the Waikato River.
It also includes material on the history of raupatu (confiscation) and the Waikato-Tainui settlements, information on tikanga and kaitiakitanga as well as video interviews with tribal members and iwi scientists.
Dr Tiakiwai says it’s important to engage students in various aspects of the river/.
The site will be hosted on www.sciencelearn.org
