Polynesian heart spotted by Lonely Planet

Auckland mayor Len Brown is crediting culture with putting the super city on the world's to visit list.
Travel guide publisher Lonely Planet put Auckland at number 10 in its Best in Travel 2014 list, which is topped by Paris, Trinidad in Cuba and Cape Town.
It says food, arts and exploring the coastal hinterland are all excellent reasons to extend a stay in New Zealand's biggest and most cosmopolitan city.
Mayor Brown says it's well deserved.
"The point of difference for Auckland as a city is its cultural experience and in particular the Polynesian experience. They picked out the Matariki festival as a must visit and also Pasifika, so that sense of our Polynesian heart is very much what is at the heart of Lonely Planet’s guide," he says.
