Huia wins Maori publishing contract
Huia Publishers will take over the contract to produce Maori medium publications for schools in the carve-up of work done by the now collapsed state owned enterprise Learning Media.
Education Minister Hekia Parata has announced the main provider for the School Journal and the Ready to Read series will be Lift Education.
It will be supported in the digital space by CORE Education, which as a commitment to both English and Maori medium, and Chrometoaster, which will provide technical support and design to Te Kete Ipurangi website, the Ministry’s online knowledge basket and bilingual education portal.
Ms Parata says all the companies chosen in a robust procurement process are New Zealand based.
She says many of the Learning Media staff are being retained within the sector, either through work with the new providers or with the Ministry of Education.
