Training boost for Maori and Pasifika
The Government is looking to expand its Maori and Pasifika Trades Training Initiative fivefold.
There are currently 600 places for 18 to 34-year-olds to gain trades qualifications and apprenticeships.
It’s now looking to expand that to 3000 places by building on new approaches trialled in the He Toki ki te Rika and Pasifika Trades schemes.
Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce it bringing together education providers, Maori and Pasifika groups, and employers will ensure the training provided meets the needs of employers, learners and their communities.
