Paul Walden the Voice of Aotearoa
One of the biggest New Zealand stars of the 1960s is back and loving it.
Paul Walden played at a Kidney Kids charity show in Auckland last night, alongside fellow kiwi country legends Gary Bartlett, Brendan Dugan, Dennis Marsh, and Jodi Vaughan.
He recently moved back home to the Whanganui region after 30 years working on Australia’s Gold Coast, and a compilation CD of old and new recordings, The Voice of Aotearoa, has just been released on Frenzy records.
The collection was originally to be called "The Forgotten Voice of Aotearoa," but Walden says he's glad to find has not been forgotten.
One of his favourite tracks in the new CD is the song he recently wrote, By The Banks of the River, about growing up in the Māori village of Kaiwhaiki beside the Whanganui.
