DoC keen to do business with Maori

Meanwhile, the Department of Conservation’s Northland conservancy is encouraging Māori to look to the conservation estate in creating new businesses.
The announcement of its Te Ao Pakihi – The Business World seminars comes as Greens co-leader Metiria Turei is fighting off criticism for telling Māori Television's Native Affairs programme that Māori in disadvantaged areas are developing entrepreneurial and horticultural skills by growing marijuana.
The DoC seminars in Kerikeri and Whangarei will include case studies from Taiamai Tours owner Hone Mihaka, Māori Trustee Pita Paraone and Beewize Director Collin Knox.
There will also be presentations from business groups and industry training organisations on the support available.
The seminars are part of DoC's shift to working more directly with the community.
