There are 100 days to go before the Paris Olympic Games. This week, Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII gave his blessing to the new Olympic kākahu to be worn by the New Zealand Team flag bearers and yesterday the Olympic athletes gathered on the waters edge of Waitematā Harbour to place a fern frond in a basket which was then placed in the sea.
