Mana scores high in rights poll
The Mana Party claims a Maori Television poll on which politicians are fighting for Māori rights shows how badly the Māori Party is doing in the eyes of its own people.
Mana leader Hone Harawira topped the Native Affairs poll at 32 percent, with Maori Party co-leaders Pita Sharples and Tariana Turia on 16 percent and 12 percent respectively, and Green MP Metiria Turei on 9 percent.
Mana president Annette Sykes says being in coalition with a party that has driven the greatest collapse in social statistics for Māori for the past 20 years has created a crisis within the Māori Party, and it is no longer sure about what it is and who it represents.
