Pink shirt call for stand against bullying
It’s time to check the wardrobe to make a fashion statement.
Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day, when people are encouraged to speak up, stand together and stop bullying.
Thomas Strickland from the Mental Health foundation says it’s time to spread aroha and kindness throughout Aotearoa.
New Zealand has the third highest rate of school bullying out of 51 countries in a recent survey, and one in 10 people say they experience workplace bullying.
"Studies say that people who are bullied are more likely to experience mental health issues such as depression and anxiety so this is a huge kaupapa for us, our kura and our workplaces," Mr Strickland says.
Social media is also an area where people need to monitor and challenge online bullying.
