Tāmaki Makaurau candidates seek common ground
Tāmaki Makaurau candidates have gone to university to encourage young voters to the polls.
A cocktail of supporters filled Auckland University's Shadows bar last night to hear incumbent Peeni Henare, the Greens' Marama Davidson and Māori Party co-leader John Tamihere debate treaty settlements, Oranga Tamariki, Ihumaatao, and other issues of the day.
Ms Davidson says there was a lot of common ground.
"Māori voters want to see us work together, they wasn't to see us cooperate rather than throw mud at each other. That's what you are hearing from us three, acknowledging that. There are some slight tweaks where we stand on our party kaupapa but I think it's good to see a lot of common ground," she says.
