More than 1,150 people have had their say on the future of water services in Auckland, contributing feedback to the Tiaki Wai water services strategy.
Auckland Council says the strong response reflects growing public interest in how drinking water, wastewater and stormwater are managed, with community input set to play a key role in shaping long-term planning.
The Tiaki Wai strategy focuses on building a more sustainable and resilient water system, while addressing challenges such as population growth, ageing infrastructure and the impacts of climate change.
Feedback gathered covers a wide range of issues, including water quality, environmental protection, affordability and the need for future investment. Community perspectives will now be reviewed and considered as the strategy is refined.
Council representatives say engaging with the public is critical to ensuring the plan reflects the priorities and concerns of Aucklanders, while also meeting regulatory requirements and environmental responsibilities.
The next stage will involve incorporating the feedback into a finalised strategy, which aims to guide water services for years to come.
