Labour Party Deputy Leader Carmel Sepuloni says recent polls showing Labour’s lead are encouraging as the party nears the halfway point of the current Parliamentary term.
In the latest Taxpayer’s Union / Curia poll, Labour Leader Chris Hipkins leads the preferred Prime Minister race at 20.7%, while Prime Minister Christopher Luxon drops to 20.3%.
Sepuloni says the party’s focus right now is on staying grounded and working hard in opposition.
“I think that’s quite the contrast to what people have seen with the government. There’s been chaos on all levels and in a variety of sectors and a variety of areas. And so I think people are seeing a united Labour Party and perhaps three parties on the left who are just getting on and doing the job,” says Sepuloni.
New Zealand First Deputy Leader Shane Jones says Luxon’s decline in popularity is National Party problem and NZ First will continue to push its election promises forward.
