Due to the desire of South Island iwi to represent their opposition to governmental breaches against Māori, they will also march to Wellington for the Toitū Te Tiriti march.

This morning, Te Tai Tonga MP Takuta Ferris announced that a hīkoi would be held on the South Island, beginning in Murihiku (Southland) and heading to Wellington.

Ferris says this march will move in tandem with the hīkoi starting from Te Reinga on November 11, aiming to reach Parliament on November 19.

He says, “Like in the North, they will hold a karakia. At Stirling Point, we’ll gather there, hold a karakia, and begin our march. We’ll proceed through Invercargill, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson, then board the ship on the 18th. These are the current plans, though, by the end of this week, we’ll announce the final details.”
